AirlineRatings.com rates airlines on everything from the level of comfort they provide to passengers to how safe their carriers are, and they recently ranked the top ten airlines with the best first class cabins.

With lavish amenities that include multi-room apartments, double beds, and plush bedding, passengers can kick back and relax on their next flight.

EMIRATES

The luxury business class cabins, enclosed in “privacy doors,” come with seats that become beds, dim mood lighting and a mini bar filled with all the complimentary wine, champagne and cocktails you could ever dream of. If you’re on a longer flight, you have access to an on-board shower spa stocked with Bvlgari toiletries. (No big deal.)

ETIHAD AIRWAYS

Before even getting on your flight, you are welcomed with luxury – passengers can wait for their flight in Etihad’s First Class Lounge, or enjoy a massage at Six Senses Spa. On the airplane, the cabins have lush Poltrona Frau leather seats, wooden wardrobes and a chilled drinks cabinet. Wait, it gets better – if you stay at “The Residence,” an upper-deck cabin, you can enjoy a living room, double bedroom and shower room, as well as a personal butler and chef.

JAPAN AIRLINES

The airlines’ JAL SKY SUITE 777s are as cozy as they are luxurious; with a woodgrain interior and leather seating, plus beds surrounded by privacy partitions. As could be expected, the meals are world-class, prepared by a prestigious group of chefs, many of them Michelin-starred (including Chef Yamamoto of Ryugin.)

LUFTHANSA

While not as openly lavish as some of the other first class cabins, Lufthansa’s suites are streamlined and sophisticated, with sleek lie-flat beds and cozy mattress toppers, pillows and duvets. Oh, and there’s the added bonus of being able to drink wines selected by world-renowned sommelier Markus Del Monego. Oh, and there’s caviar.

SINGAPORE AIRLINES

Their new first class seats come complete with beds 35 by 82 inches large, protected by curved side panels for maximum snoozing potential. Extra touches like pajamas, bedroom slippers and ambient lighting make the mood just that more comfortable. Bed head in the morning? Take advantage of the cabin’s vanity corner and mirror.

QANTAS

In Qanta’s luxury cabins, travelers can relax on a sheepskin mattress, leaning back into 6.5-foot-long lie-flat bed-seats – or, if you’re not prepared to sleep, lounge in the your ottoman, or enjoy the eight-course tasting menu designed by Chef Neil Perry.

AIR FRANCE

Air France’s premium designer suite is decked out in fine fabrics, with seats that transform into fully-flat beds and retractable armrests, allowing passengers to create a space more then 30 inches wide. Alongside the bed, which is covered in a Sofitel MyBed duvet, is a 24-inch-wide-table, plus an ottoman, where you can enjoy a personal entertainment system and grommet meals developed by Michelin-starred French chefs. There’s also a massage feature on your seat, plus lounge wear, slippers and Givenchy facial and body care products to truly embrace the descriptor “La Première.”

SWISS INTERNATIONAL AIR LINES

Versatility is the name of the game here: passengers can sit in their armchairs upright, or turn them into a lounge armchair, or a table for two, or a 6.5-foot-long bed, encased in privacy walls, of course. After the flight, passengers take some of the luxury with them, in the form of a packed toiletry bag with fancy eye masks, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, ear plugs and more.

KOREAN AIR

You can choose which suite you’d like for your Korean Air first class experience. The Kosmo Suites 2.0 have a sliding door, a 9.4-inch partition and a 79-inch suite, or you can go with the Kosmo Sleeper, which has a bed that extends 78 inches. All first class seats come with personal LCD screens, reading lamps, foot rests free noise-canceling headphones and, most importantly, super fun-colored decor.

ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS

ANA’s first class cabins are less of a cabin, more of a private hotel room, offering spacious comfortable seating, an adjustable dining and cocktail table, as well as a place to store your shoes, jacket and baggage. Each seat comes with a telephone with personal satellites, so you can make international calls, and LCD wide-screen monitor, USB ports, and a “Do Not Disturb” light.

The airline’s Royal First Class experience begins with a flute of champagne and a caviar snack. (Casual). The enclosed seats, which are roughly 8 feet long, come complete with 180-degree lie-flat beds and 23-inch flat screens that offer over 300 programs.
