Uber close partnership with Airbus to offer service via helicopter
The Uber struck a deal with Airbus to offer their service transport helicopter. The partnership begins to assert this week at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, United States: just open the app and call a driver takes the customer to the heliport, where the person will travel.
Tom Enders, CEO of Airbus, said in an interview that the experience is a pilot project, but said the company is “excited”. No financial details were disclosed and Uber did not comment on the news.
The Uber has offered the use of their application to various modes of transport. In addition to traditional cars, you can call rickshaws in India or boats in Turkey.
The service itself helicopters, called UberChopper, has already been tested between Manhattan and Haptons in 2013 and in events like Cannes Films Festival, Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival - on those occasions, the “race” cost between several hundred to several thousand dollars says the WSJ.
Airbus will provide the H125 and H130 models for Sundance. The company also has partnered with the Air Resources, an operator of H125 helicopters based in Utah.
