Why are 787 and A380 compared while they are of very different build and capacities?
Ideally A380 should be compared with 747. Though both the companies touted them(380 and 787) as their flagship product launches in the early 21st century, the plan is to fill the gaps in their product line, effectively. Very different gaps. Still the comparison?
Both aircraft from rival companies.
Boeing 787 dreamliner really is excellent interior and very comfortable with new technology.
Its twin engine aircraft and around 275 seat configuration. Its very economical aeroplane.
Airbus A380 bring twin deck aircraft, very huge and excellent interior.
Its four engine aircraft. Very huge and bigger seat capacity than B787.
But comparison comes due both are from rival companies product and launch on similar time. Right now both are top product of each company.
Because they are the by products of two very different strategies. According to Boeing the future of air travel is between point to point and for that they developed 787, which carries lesser passenger in comparison to double decker. Contrary to Boeing beliefs, Airbus thinks the future of air travel is between hub to hub like between heathrow and Dubai. Since these hub airports are very busy and therefore have slot restrictions, it makes sense to build a very big plane(a 380) which can carry upto 800 passengers at a time in a single configuration . Both these aircrafts are state of art and very fuel efficient .
It’s still very early to tell who is right about their prediction but as per going by order numbers of both planes , Boeing are having their way so far.
